The Democratic Party is thought of by many as the oldest political party in the world. Founded in 1828, it's produced some of the most well-known political figures globally. Descending from liberal ideas, the Democrats are often seen as the most left-wing of the two mainstream parties, and take more progressive positions on policies.

At the last elections, the Democrats struggled, with their Presidential candidate only gaining 226 seats and very narrowly losing the popular vote.
